Steely Dan took a long break and front man Donald Fagan decided to write the first of a trilogy of music that encompassed everything. You can play each and every cut. From IGY to Green Flower Street to Maxine. Worth the dough! Will not disappoint!

Q opened this 1969 set with Walking In Space. Valerie Simpson's voice is out worldly on the title cut. Toots Theilman is great and Rahsaan Roland Kirks Tenor and Alto solo played at the same time is amazing! Just amazing!

Billy Joel is a kick A** Piano Player with a great voice and great songs. From Laura to Allentown to my favorite Where's the Orchestra where it incorporates the melody line from Allentown. Definitely worth it! Phil Ramone produced it!

Stevie's 73 set starting with TOO High and ending in Mister Know it All! Classic!

Common Sense lost his sense due to a legal battle with a reggae band and released this set with Producer No ID. The cut with Lauren Hill's cool but the real star on the set is the intro! Still you can play it all the way through, you might be tempted to skip payback is a grandmother but hey it's not that weak!

The former Commissioned Front man Bassist/Minister could have just rested on his laurels but well he's answers to a higher power and hi quality is the standard.

Fugees front woman took a lil time off to release this major set! She roasts Juru the damaja on Lost Ones! And gets serious with That Thing, Nothing really matters, and Ex Factor. I think she wigged out after this. Well LBOOGIE, we miss you, come back soon!

Donnie Hathaway released this set after The Ghetto and before his Comeback Charleston Blue Soundtrack. From the majestic I know the Lord, to Madeline it's a great epic set!

Thanks to Aretha's suggestion he ends it with Leon Wares tribute to his Mother. Classic!

Some Voices can not be faked! Luther! Luther! Luther! Surely he can claim credit for so much baby making in the eighties. This was Luther's masterwork! Every cut fast or slow was amazing. He took a trip to Pop land right after and I never grooved to it but the 1st three other albums were just as great! Cop em!

What if Daryl had stayed a background singer? What if Daryl never heard the Lords call? For those unfamiliar with Minister Daryl Coley he has one of the most amazing voices ever. He can sing the phone book and have you praising!

Is the NAACP Still Relevant?

Every time I see the NAACP lately they're railing on some plan b type ish! Soul Plane 2 coming out! There they are!

Someone in Black face singing a gospelized jiggle selling chicken! They there!

In need of real legal representation? Can't find them! Sheer dearth of Black Owned Businesses! Can't see em! Too many liquor ads! Too much Liquor induced killings, Nothing!

Black folks losing HBCU's ? Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!

Let a Brother get killed by the Po-LICE and even , when they are on the front line no one cares!

Why? Tell em why, Mista Jaycee!

The NAACP is not relevant today because they don't want to be! That's why?

Police Brutality never stopped being an issue! Lack of Home Ownership! Still an issue! Re segregated schools! Still an issue! Inferior Schools, Lack of Proper Medical care, Lack of Financial Institutions! All relevant issues that the NAACP has not been at the forefront on.

They don't want to be relevant cause they still keep Julian Bond and all the elders from the 50's and 60's on the board and in the leadership! (Mr. Bond did tender his resignation but the board has continued to persuade him to stay on)

What about Bennie Jealous? What about him! The NAACP allowed Bruce Gordon to resign cause they didn't want to remake the NAACP they wanted the status Quo. So, you didn't elect Dallas, Texas Friendship West Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Freddie Haynes to the leadership allegedly because he would not resign his pastoral Ministry. Allegedly, of course. Of course it may be mere coinidence that he is a friend of Pastor Jerimiah Wright. Mere coincidence. That could not have had anything to do with the boards dicision. Dr. Haynes was alledgedly told that he had the job. Alledgedly of course.

Mumia Abu Jamal is still in prison. His case still stinks to high heaven. Marshall Eddie Conway is still in prison! COINTELPRO, case, still stinks! Assata Shakur is still in exile in Cuba! Plenty of evidence to prove her innocence, no one's pressing the issue in court! Prisons are being privatized all over the nation. And you railing against a dress! A G-Damn Dress?

And you wondering why no one takes the organization seriously anymore. It's because you forgot the grassroots, radicals and progressives. The Working class folks! You have become the bastion of the Black Middle and Upper class that's all too comfortable in America. That's right!

Sure, the organization has done great things in the past and locally, still does, but the larger brand has rested on it's laurels, for much too long. Y'all forgot, that you were the party of Robert Williams not just Walter White. Y'all forgot that Dr. W.E.B Dubois was a founder too. Of course, you have to balance ,Dr. Dubois's, seemingly radical views, with the fact that he publicly quarrelled with Marcus M. Garvey.

The issues that the organization got famous for fighting are not being challenged now! We let too many personalities use the organization as a springboard for their own resumes instead of dealing with the real ish.

Katrina! Still an issue! Bodymore, I mean Baltimore, still needs the NAACP! Los Angeles, still needs the NAACP! Killadelphia, I mean, Philladelphia, still needs help!

Now if Mainstream colleges don't hire the clearly overqualified Black dude to be a coach, then I know I can count on the NAACP to hold a press conference! But if 50% of Minority High school's population drops out and only 30% of the entire student body can read and pass the basic skills test and exit exam. I can hear a rat taking a whiz on cotton!

That's a crying shame! Work on the needs of our people! That's what makes you relevant!
If not then perhaps like all dinosaurs, it's time to be extinct!

But We Were Scared!

Police Officers need to be involved with the people of the Community

I was talking with my Wife, my friend, about the arrest of the officer in the Oscar Grant killing. I watched a few different takes of the killing. The most vivid was from a Woman observer featured on raw feed. My wife couldn't bear to watch it. I felt sick when I did.

Yes! Some People can be Scary!

I feel enraged now. Anger, a familiar companion, is once again, with me. My wife, my friend, says well, there are some scary people, out there and these cops are scared!

The Mailman doesn't carry a gun and they deal with scary people all the time!

So Eff'in what! So what, they scared! That's not a real reason! That is not a excuse! I worked in a refinery. I was made to be aware of the dangers of working in a refinery. Follow procedure, don't play around! If you eff up you can or will die!

These men could be mechanics at West Coast Choppers!

I worked as a bank guard! Same thing! Follow procedures! Do your job! I prayed on my way to work, I prayed while I was at work and I thanked God when I made it home. I didn't know how much stress I was under until I had been off that job for a few months. I believe that I have an idea of what Police officers go through. Some idea, but I don't do their job. I am not ambivalent to the dangers associated to their work. It's inherent!

Pizza Delivery can be dangerous but they do it with a smile!

But the Black Man and every other Minority Man is in danger too. We live with danger just like them. Sean Bell was supposed to be married now! He went out with his friends for a last night as a single man. He was approached by unidentified men who fired multiple rounds into his vehicle killing him.

He was probably laughing with his friends! Satisfied that after seeing a room full of the most beautiful, athletic, adult entertainment professionals, that he would be able to be faithful to one woman.

But those officers thought he and his friends were criminals! Criminals, Mista Jaycee!

Something needs to be said about that perception. Being scared is not an excuse! They might be criminals is not a valid philosophy! You don't know if they criminals!

For any law enforcement folks reading this. Did it ever occur to you that We, are scared of you too!

WE ARE SCARED OF YOU TOO!

Why wouldn't we be? You do not introduce yourselves as our friends. You and your organization does not engage our communities. We see you ride through our neighborhoods glaring at us from your police cars since we were children. The children see you! We remember what we felt when We were children.

What can we do Mista Jaycee to change that?

Well Mr and Miss Law Enforcement. How about foot patrols? How about expanding the Police Athletic Leagues? How about customer service? Saying Hello to Grown ups, waving to Children? Cops used to do that! They did! Part of your job is working with the public. Guess what? We are the public! Which means that if you are hostile to the public, those you serve, you won't provide good service. You ain't providing good service!

You can no longer hide behind a mandate that you are a public servant but refuse to be engaged with the public! We're Law Enforcement! Not Social Workers!

Wrong! You are City Employees! Public Servants! You are Social Workers! You are part of the face of the city you serve and if y'all are a-holes then guess what? The City suffers.

United States Postal Workers work alot closer to the people in the worst neighborhoods. The do it without 40. caliber hand weapons, without shotguns, body armor, AR-15, they do it! Why can't you? They deal with danger! The Pizza dude deals with danger! He still does it and he's nice when he's doin it!

So across the nation this week we have had three officer involved shootings. All appear to have been motivated by some officers twisted perception and justified by their fear! It's bad but worse it Inexcusable. INEXCUSABLE!

They might be criminals!

No, the problem with law enforcement from William Parker, Famous Chief of the LAPD to J. Edgar Hoover, Fearless Coward that lead the FBI is that the real Philosophy is not that they might be criminals it's that THEY ARE CRIMINALS!

Never mind that we see them working jobs, buying houses, mowing the lawns! They criminals!

That's what has to change. We are not criminals! Some folks may be and some have been but the idea that THEY ARE CRIMINALS! has got to die and stay dead.

Until that happens... Opps! I killed you will always occur! We can do better! We have to.

Every major riot and city uprising happened cause some fool cop did something to set it off! Time to stop! Adjust your attitude and your tactics! Time to get involved into diffusing community anger and disenfranchisement! The powder keg must go!

Arrest in the Oscar Grant Killing!

This morning while listening to Dominique Duprima on KJLH Front Page it was reported that former City of Oakland BART Transit Officer Johannes "Johnny" Mehserle has been arrested in Nevada. Officer Mehserle resigned earlier last week and has refused to answer questions from investigators concerning the incident. He will be charged in the death of slained transit rider Oscar Grant. A Choice of Weapons has no other information at this time. Here's to a fair trail and hopefully JUSTICE for Oscar Grant.
