On Sundays, The Walton Family sang Gospel Music together but Monday Through Friday, the Taylor children listened to, and sang the Blues. Cora "Koko" Taylor, aptly named for her love her Chocolate became the Queen of the Blues! If you a City Kid like me you've probably heard her signature song "Wang Dang Doodle" from those commercials advertising "The Nothing but the Blues" Collection.
Her singing style was pure POWER! Raw, Uncut, Real. She led her band with precision, never wanting to be a great band leader for a "Woman!" She was a great band leader period!
In her lifetime she was awarded every award a Blues Artist can be given. They were well deserved. My condolences to her family. She sleeps until the Lord comes to take her home.
