The Long Beach City council and Mayor Bob Foster have come to an agreement on the city budget. Each city department will suffer budget cuts including some layoffs but the proposal to close the Main Library has been abandoned for now. The Library will close on Sundays and Mondays and some staff members will be layed off.Mayor Foster still plans to eventually close the Main Library and build a new one at a different location. Thanks to local activists, educators and residents though the Main Library lives on.
