Now begin the Noble Month of Ramadan starting September 1, 2008 or September 2, 2008 depending on what side of the lunar equator you fall on. Ramadan is the time that the Noble Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon all the prophets). Muslims, (Submitters) fast during the daylight hours abstaining from food and drink unless they are under nine years of age or ill and unable to fast. In that time adherents contemplate spiritual matters, praying and working towards a higher spiritual understanding, and a more right centered view of humankind not unlike their Jewish brethren during Roshashana and Christians during the season of Lent. Muslims fast for thirty days until Eid (which means break the fast). Fasting as in most faiths is essential to the development of the soul and is one of the five pillars of faith. Prayer, Alms, Fasting, Hajj(pilgrimage to Mecca at least once if one is able) and Shahada ( Testimony of Faith).
To my Muslim Family, Friends and Neighbors May the God (I AM) richly bless you and may genuine tolerance and real understanding lead us to peace.
BE Mindful! BE Careful! BE Prayerful!
A Salaam Alakium ( Peace Unto You) during the Noble Month of Ramadan.
